Transportation Dispatcher job summary
Our logistics company is in need of a Transportation Dispatcher for our department of operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of transportation of goods to their destination, specifically with regard to customer satisfaction. Dispatchers are also responsible for replying immediately to customer questions and complaints and for notifying customers about any delays that occur during transit or in the loading/unloading process. Maintaining frequent surveillance of all of the accounts and coordinating with other departments are important qualities to to possess in this position.
Some additional tasks associated with this position are placing bids on shipments, entering negotiations with vendors, and becoming instrumental in the forward growth of the company. The position reports directly to the Operations Manager and work directly with other departments (i.e. sales, accounting, compliance, etc.) to ensure an efficient daily workflow. Transportation Dispatcher responsibilities/duties
Develop a proactive relationship with the assigned customer accounts by resolution of issues and concerns in a timely manner and provide innovative solutions
Execute timely and profitable bids on available shipments
Maintain profits through strategic negotiations
Handle shipment quoting
Cover available loads
Send dispatch documents to vendors
Prepare accurate bills of lading
Track and trace shipments
Input/update various files and information into database
Track and analyze mis-shipments to ensure they don’t occur again
Ensure quality of all services and processes within the department
Transportation Dispatcher qualifications/skills
High school diploma/GED required (Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics & Supply Chain, or a related field preferred)
2+ years experience in an administrative/customer service role or a related field preferred
1+ year working with an integrated cloud-based software system preferred
Comfortable with working in a fast-paced and performance driven environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word
Highly effective communication, both verbal and written
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and customer-oriented
Strong work ethic with a self-starter mentality
Confident, enthusiastic, and a strong negotiator

Schedule: Monday-Friday
Position Type: Operations
Wage/Salary: $16.00 - $18.00
